Viking tunic halvar with embroidery, natural/red

Our cotton tunic is made of sturdy canvas and has an embroidered and decorated edge. The edge depicts a knot pattern (also called Celtic knot) and is inspired by the stone image from Lärbro (Gotland). The tunic is loose-fitting and has a flared cuff. It is therefore best worn with a belt. The neckline is wide and gussets (rectangular pieces of fabric) are inserted under the arms. The pockets are inserted into the side seam. The elaborate design and contrasting colour details make it clear that this is an outer garment.

The appearance and cut of this tunic correspond to the clothing of the High and Early Middle Ages in Northern Europe. Typical for the cut of this period are longer cut upper garments with a straight cut torso and flared skirt. (rock). Stiffeners (rectangular pieces of fabric) were used under the arms to increase comfort. Archaeological finds with a similar cut were made, for example, in Vyborg and Haithabu.

The tunic is perfect for all northern men. For an authentic look, we recommend combining them with Viking trousers, calves and a leather belt.
