On August 9, 2025, Outlander: Blood of My Blood arrives on Movistar+ in Spain, a series that serves as a prequel to the successful Outlander , adapted from the literary universe of Diana Gabaldón.
The production, written by Matthew B. Roberts from a story by Maggie Ye, is directed by Matthew Moore, Azhur Saleem, Emer Conroy and Jamie Payne.
This new installment will consist of ten episodes and promises to explore the pasts of two crucial families: the Frasers and the Beauchamps, parents of the protagonists of the original series. It highlights the contrast in clothing and weapons from two different eras, with special attention to their historical relevance.
This is how we can break down these two factors and analyze what we might expect from them.

Weapons of two centuries:
Between the musket and the modern rifle
The importance of weaponry in Outlander: Blood of My Blood is notable.
The setting ranges from the 18th century to the years of the First World War, allowing for the exploration of the evolution of weapons with remarkable historical accuracy.
In 1715, Scotland was embroiled in the Jacobite Wars, and the use of swords, muskets, and flintlock pistols was common.
The sword remained a symbol of status and close combat, while dueling pistols began to spread among the elite.
Among the most notable firearms of the era was the flintlock musket, such as the famous Brown Bess , a smoothbore muzzle-loading weapon. Its flintlock mechanism allowed firing by striking a flint against a piece of metal, generating a spark that ignited the gunpowder. Although inaccurate and slow to reload, it was feared for its powerful force and use with a bayonet.
In contrast, the rifle was a breakthrough with its rifled barrel, improving accuracy and range. The rifle was lighter, quieter, and allowed for more efficient aiming, although it sacrificed speed.
Flintlock pistols, on the other hand, were both lethal tools and prestigious ornaments. Muzzle-loaded, their designs ranged from simple models to richly decorated pieces with ivory stocks. Some models had rotating barrels, allowing multiple shots without immediate reloading—a revolutionary feat for the time.
The sword, saber, and knife continued to hold a vital place in self-defense, especially in early 18th-century Scotland. However, as it enters World War I England, the series' narrative introduces new weapons characteristic of modern conflict.
The Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) Mk III rifle, standard issue of the British Army, was robust, accurate, and reliable. Hand grenades, shotguns used in the trenches, and semi-automatic pistols also appear, albeit to a lesser extent.

Costumes and setting:
Reflection of conflict and social evolution
This clash of centuries is also reflected in the wardrobe.
According to promotional materials, the series will feature meticulous and varied costume design, ranging from the wool skirts, doublets, leather boots, and cloaks of 18th-century Scottish clans to the British military uniforms, Edwardian suits, cloche hats, and fitted dresses of the 1910s.
Each garment seems designed not only with historical accuracy, but also to reflect the social, political, and emotional evolution of the characters.
A new chapter for fans of the saga
Outlander: Blood of My Blood not only expands the narrative universe of the saga, but enriches it with new perspectives, blending genres, exploring love through time, and capturing the harshness of war and the weight of lineage.
Through weapons, costumes, and time jumps, the series presents itself as an ambitious and exciting epic journey that allows us to see the evolution and change brought about by the passage of time and the social context reflected in its episodes...
