When Upper Bavarian and Holstein brewers get together, it's sometimes amusing. Then, the glasses clang loudly into the dark night until it gets dark.

The Imperial Oatmeal Stout Zappenduster was created through a collaboration between Camba Bavaria and Wacken Brewery. Since this oatmeal stout is made with oats and roasted malts, it complies with the German purity law of 1516. The name is, of course, a reference to the color, but also to the high alcohol content.

Zappenduster is strong, toasty, warm, and yet as dark as a moonless night. The stout impresses with its complex aromatic density, with roasted, coffee-like aromas in the foreground, surrounded by creamy dark chocolate, dark fruits, and a hint of breadcrumbs.

This complex array of aromas is supported by a velvety, silky, yet warm body, offset by a pronounced bitterness.
