Mjölnir (= the Malmer ) is the mighty hammer of the thunder god Thor, considered the second most important Norse deity after his father Odin. In Germanic mythology, the dwarf Brokk forged Mjölnir, which could be thrown without ever missing its target. With the hammer, Thor successfully battles the giants who always threaten the Vanir and Aesir bloodlines. Today, Thor's hammer is a popular motif for jewelry, talismans, and decorative items, and is also an expression of paganism in a Christian setting.
