Mjölnir (= the Malmer ) is the mighty hammer of the thunder god Thor, considered the second most important Norse deity after his father Odin. In Germanic mythology, Mjölnir was forged by the dwarf Brokk and could be thrown without ever missing the target. With the hammer, Thor successfully fights off the giants who always threaten the bloodlines of the Vanir and Aesir. Today, Thor's hammer is a popular motif for jewelry, talismans and decorative items, and is also an expression of paganism in a Christian setting.
