The square shield boss (called umbo ) offered here is the optimal, authentic accessory for the discerning reenactor who wants to build his own Roman shield . It is ideal as a replacement or backup for a Roman legionary's shield, but is of course also suitable for other shield-building projects. Thanks to its elegant simplicity, this robust, high-quality and at the same time inexpensive hump can be combined with a variety of Roman shields.

Our umbo is made of approximately 1mm thick brass, blackened on the inside for better protection against corrosion and pre-drilled with four holes. The corners are slightly rounded.



The hump is not pre-curved. Before mounting it on a curved sign, it must be adjusted to the curve of the sign.
