Steel mace with leather handle



This simple, sturdy mace with a rectangular shaft and a grooved ball- or bulb-shaped head is based on historical models from the 16th and 17th centuries. Inspired by the 17th century, it is forged from carbon steel and is fitted with a stitched leather handle and a leather hand strap.



Developed primarily as a powerful force to break plate armor, this particular striking weapon is sometimes referred to as the Turkish mace . However, this type of mace was not only widespread among the Ottomans, but was also very popular in Eastern Europe, through the Middle East and India. In terms of design, the numerous shapes and patterns ranged from minimalist and utilitarian (usually designed for combat) to ornate and elaborate (designed more for ceremonial purposes or as insignia of rank).
