Acquire Masai Spear With Sheath
Maasai spear with sheath
A symbol of power and strength for the proud Maasai people of East Africa is their elegant war spear. With its long, narrow blade, short wooden handle, and heavy, balanced spike, or shoe , this legendary instrument of the Maasai moran , or warrior, is one of the most distinctive spears in the world. The spear is the warrior's most prized possession and never leaves his hand except when stuck in the earth, blade point upward, resting at his side. In fact, many Maasai morani are so confident in the killing power of their spear that they refuse to run from danger while it is within reach. This is understandable because young Maasai morani must single-handedly kill a lion with their spear to prove their courage and masculinity.
Each spear has been carefully cold-forged from carbon steel and finished with a sturdy ash handle and a strong, balanced spine. When fully assembled, it measures approximately 183 cm long and weighs a staggering 1600 g.
The sharp Maasai spear is delivered unassembled and consists of three parts: First, there is the blade itself, which is approximately 55.5 cm long and approximately 4.5 cm wide and has a strong midrib that reaches almost to the tip. Then, there is the American brown ash shaft, which is tapered at both ends and serves as a connecting piece between the shoe and the blade. Finally, there is the heavy, solid steel spike, which, like the fearsome blade, has been tempered to spring-hardness. The sharp point can also be used in place of the actual spearhead during training to protect the blade's sharp cutting edges. When these three components are combined, they form an extremely effective weapon!
The Maasai spear comes in an attractive box and comes with a sturdy injection-molded sheath that protects it from unwanted contact with the sharp edge or bottom tip.
