The ball-headed battle mace was already a common weapon in the early 16th century. It was particularly popular among the warring tribes of the American East Coast. The reason for the widespread use of this weapon is thought to have been that it was relatively easy to produce (little or no metal was needed) and, above all, incredibly effective!



Cold Steel® President Lynn C. Thompson is an avid collector of wooden weapons and tribal weapons in general, and when he discovered a beautiful ball-headed mace made by knifemaker Rich McDonald, he jumped at the opportunity to share the work with him and reproduce this club for a modern audience.



Cold Steels® Indian War Club is made from impact and weather resistant, injection molded polymer materials. This material is extremely resistant to all weather conditions and unlike wood, it will not rot, crack, splinter or warp. Each Indian War Club is approximately 24 inches long. The ball has a diameter of approx. 8 cm and is equipped with a removable, pointed steel spike. For historical reenactors, this Native American club has a highly realistic wood-look surface that can be easily painted and decorated with brass rivets or feathers as desired.
