The blowgun has a long history worldwide. It is believed to have originated in Malaysia and crossed the Malaysian and Indonesian archipelagos to the Philippines and even Japan. However, the blowgun was not exclusively present in Southeast Asia. It also appeared in the Western Hemisphere, from the jungles of South and Central America to the southeastern areas of what is now the United States. Blowguns were equipped with small stones or hardened clay pellets as ammunition and were used to hunt small animals and birds.

Cold Steel Big Bore® blowguns feature large .625 magnum barrels and are capable of shooting heavier arrows faster than other models on the market. They have an effective range of approximately 18 meters, and with them, an experienced shooter with proper training can achieve a 5 cm circle from an incredible distance and shoot heavy arrows that can penetrate a sheet of plywood approximately 1.3 cm thick.

While regular .625 Magnum® blowguns are excellent, Cold Steel has improved with the .625 Professional Blowgun. This professional model has an optimized muzzle and a barrel with a 3 mm wall thickness. It's almost twice as thick and 45% heavier than the standard model, making it the heaviest industrially produced blowgun in the world today. But the real reason you should spend more money is the huge gain in accuracy attributed to the much stiffer barrel.
