Your master gave you your Nodachi many years ago. It had been a bittersweet moment for you, because while it meant you had overcome all the obstacles in your training, it also meant it was time to set out on your own path.

The hard leather along the handle feels comforting, and your hand finds its familiar, worn grip. As a traveling samurai (a ronin), your sword is your only constant companion.

You look beyond the campfire where a fresh fish is now cooking, sizzling in the heat, and watch the flickering shadows along the tree line. You have a feeling that tonight you and your sword may be tested once more when you hear the unmistakable snap of a twig and your grip on the handle tightens in anticipation.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury's Nodachi is a two-handed Japanese sword designed for elite samurai. The Nodachi is 140 cm long, with a 100 cm long single-edged cutting blade. It has a large oval crossguard and a small rounded pommel. The oval shape of the handle helps guide the blade intuitively and is adorned with menuki bindings made of premium leather. The menuki binder is double-layered and made of contrasting colors, creating a diamond pattern.

Nodachi were large weapons, but unwieldy. With their long blade, they were somewhat at odds with bushido styles and thus quickly became symbols of skill and status. Since they required extensive training for proper use, they were primarily used for dueling or in the hands of cavalrymen. While on the battlefield, they appeared dangerous in the hands of elite troops with a fearsome reputation.
