Beside the father of the gods sit the wolves Geri (the greedy) and Freki (the ravenous) from Norse mythology, who are Odin’s closest companions. Also depicted are the ravens Hugin and Munin (or Huginn and Muninn ). In Norse mythology, the two ravens fly over Asgard and Midgard and return at night to the father of the gods (also called Hrafnáss , the “raven god”) to tell him all they have seen and heard.
