Enjoy the Swedish Forest Fixed Blade Knife, Stable. Curly Birch, Blue

Swedish Forest fixed knife with blue stabilized curly birch handle, Casström

Featuring a stabilized curly birch handle, which not only looks elegant but is also water-repellent, washable, and impact-resistant, these are top-of-the-line knives that set new standards in the knife industry. The wood is treated here using vacuum injection with a mixture of hardened methacrylates. This process increases the density of the wood and makes the entire handle impervious to moisture, crack-resistant, and impact-resistant. For this particular model, blue pigments were added to the mix, ensuring an even more attractive appearance.

This sturdy full-tang knife is suitable for a wide range of uses in hunting, fishing, and classic bushcraft tasks in the woods or outdoors. It is extremely robust and equally ideal for skinning game, filleting fish, or woodworking. The blade is approximately 10 cm long and is made of approximately 3.5 mm thick Sandvik 14C28N, a Swedish stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 58-59 HRC, specially developed for knives. It is very sharp, completely flat, and has a satin finish. The combination of steel and grinding results in a knife that cuts effortlessly, performs excellently in all kinds of different tasks, and has good edge retention, yet can still be easily resharpened. Due to the shallow angle and thinness behind the cutting edge, the type of sharpening selected here is not suitable for so-called "batoning" or "prying," but is designed for efficient cutting.

The knife comes with a durable sheath made of 3mm thick vegetable-tanned leather. The sheath has an extra-wide belt loop, a drainage hole, and a grommet to accommodate a leg strap.

Steel information: 14C28N is the latest development in Sandvik's renowned knife steel collection. Its optimized composition results in a unique combination of excellent properties in terms of edge retention (stability, sharpness, and edge retention), hardness, and corrosion resistance. Because this steel is heat-treatable, even better wear resistance can be achieved compared to previous steel grades without affecting the microstructure. The blade is therefore relatively easy to sharpen, yet offers excellent edge resistance to chipping, nicks, and folded edges (so-called edge rolling ).
